Awareness Event at “Petro Nini Luarasi” High School – 16 September 2025
16/09/2025During the week following 15 September 2025, the National Ozone Unit (NOU) organized a series of educational and awareness-raising activities across Albania to celebrate Ozone Week 2025 under the theme “From Science to Global Action.” The activities aimed to engage students at different educational levels—including children, high school, vocational, and university students—in understanding the critical role of the ozone layer, the Montreal Protocol, and its connection to climate action.
Painting Exposition – September 15, 2025
The celebrations of World Ozone Day 2025 in Albania began with a painting exhibition in Tirana, organized by the National Ozone Unit (NOU) under the global theme “From Science to Global Action”. 32 children from several secondary schools showcased artworks that reflected their creativity and awareness of environmental issues. The event highlighted how art can translate science into action, turning young students into ambassadors of environmental protection and inspiring others to help safeguard the ozone layer and fight climate change.
Basketball Match – 15 September 2025
As part of the World Ozone Day 2025 celebrations, the National Ozone Unit (NOU) organized a friendly basketball match with children from Municipality Unit No. 5 in Tirana. 25 children, teachers and family members attended the event. The activity combined sports with awareness-raising, reflecting the theme ‘From Science to Global Action.’ At the end of the match, the winning team received the “Ozone Cup”, symbolizing teamwork and a shared commitment to protecting the environment.
“Petro Nini Luarasi” High School, Tirana – 16 September 2025
An engaging event was held at “Petro Nini Luarasi” High School in Tirana, with the participation of 25 students and three teachers, under the supervision of the school’s director. The program began with presentations on World Ozone Day, the Montreal Protocol, the Kigali Amendment, and the Vienna Convention, highlighting global efforts to protect the ozone layer. Students took part in discussions and interactive sessions, supported by educational videos and multimedia presentations, which helped them better understand both the science of ozone depletion and the practical actions needed to address it.
“Metropolitan” University, Tirana – 16 September 2025
On 16 September 2025, in cooperation with the National Ozone Unit (NOU), Metropolitan University in Tirana hosted 40 students and four lecturers from various faculties for a World Ozone Day event with the motto “From science to global action”. The program featured presentations, discussions, and multimedia materials on ozone protection, climate change, and global environmental agreements. Through these interactive sessions, students reflected on their role as future professionals and citizens, gaining a deeper understanding of the Montreal Protocol, the Kigali Amendment, and the importance of turning science into action.
“Elbasan Vocational School” – 17 September 2025
The following day, the activities continued at “Elbasan Vocational School”, where 30 students and four teachers participated under the supervision of the school coordinator. The program included informative sessions on World Ozone Day and the Montreal Protocol, interactive discussions, and the screening of educational videos. The event highlighted the importance of protecting the ozone layer and its link to climate change, while also encouraging students to share their views and ask questions. At the end of the program, participants received posters, brochures, and multimedia materials featuring the World Ozone Day 2025 logo, ensuring that the awareness message would continue beyond the event.
Meeting with Technicians from RAC sector – 17 September 2025
On 18 September 2025, the National Ozone Unit (NOU), in cooperation with Artur Sherrmani, owner of ELDIO CLIMA in Elbasan, organized a working lunch with 18 technicians from the RAC sector. The meeting provided an informal yet productive setting for discussing best practices in refrigerant management, the safe handling of ozone-depleting substances, and the transition to climate-friendly alternatives. Technicians actively exchanged experiences, asked questions, and shared practical insights, reinforcing the connection between technical expertise and the goals of the Montreal Protocol. The event reflected the World Ozone Day 2025 theme “From Science to Global Action”, highlighting how knowledge and collaboration can translate into concrete environmental action.
“National Center for Children’s Culture” – 16 September 2025
On 16 September 2025, the National Ozone Unit (NOU), in collaboration with the National Center for Children’s Culture in Tirana, organized an educational activity attended by approximately 30 children and three teachers. Under the theme “Montreal Protocol: From Science to Global Action”, the program combined creative and interactive sessions that helped children understand the importance of ozone protection and their role in safeguarding the environment.
“Kongresi Manastirit” School – 18 September 2025
On 18 September 2025, the National Ozone Unit (NOU), in cooperation with the “Kongresi i Manastirit” School in Tirana, organized a special photo exhibition as part of the World Ozone Day 2025 celebrations under the theme “From Science to Global Action.” There were engaged 25 students and 5 teachers, including the school’s director.
The activity was carried out in two phases. The first phase involved collecting, selecting, and competing 30 photos over a period of two months. The images were created by children specifically for this occasion, focusing on the ozone layer and climate change, allowing students to express their understanding and creativity while engaging with environmental topics.
The second phase involved organizing the exhibition in the school premises under the special care of the director, Ms. Rudina Maksuti. The exhibition attracted significant interest from students, who actively engaged with the photos and participated in lively discussions, reflecting on the messages behind each artwork and exploring ways to contribute to environmental protection.
