09/12/2025The National Ozone Unit, in collaboration with the Faculty of Forestry Sciences, organized an awareness-raising activity titled: “Women and Climate Action: The Montreal Protocol and the Role of RRR for a Sustainable Future.”
This awareness event was held under the special patronage of Prof. Dr. Elvin Toromani, Dean of the Faculty of Forestry Sciences at the Agricultural University of Tirana.
The activity addressed several important themes related to the Montreal Protocol, its implementation in Albania, and the importance of integrating a gender perspective (gender mainstreaming) into environmental policies and initiatives. Awareness videos were showcased, practical examples of clean technologies were presented, and interactive discussions were conducted with the participating female students.
Lecturers Teuta Halilaj and Ina Vejsiu emphasized the importance of such awareness-raising activities, highlighting that empowering girls and women in environmental and climate sciences is essential for achieving sustainable development goals. They noted that the involvement of youth, especially female students, plays a crucial role in shaping a conscious and engaged generation committed to environmental protection.
The activity concluded with an open discussion, during which students expressed strong interest in joining future initiatives that promote emission reduction, the use of ecological alternatives, and the strengthening of their role in environmental decision-making processes.
