Awareness Activity with the Faculty of Forestry Sciences on the Role of Women in Climate Action under the Montreal Protocol
27/11/2025The National Ozone Unit held an informational and awareness-raising session at Barleti University, with students from the Faculty of Social Sciences, Tourism and Sports, and the Department of Physical Education and Sports.
The aim of the activity was to increase awareness among female students about the importance of refrigeration and air conditioning (RAC) technologies, the 3R concept (Recovery, Recycling, Reclamation), and the opportunities available to them in green and technical professions of the future.
The session was organized with the participation of Prof. Dr. Artan Shyti, serving as Vice Rector for Student and Community Affairs and Dean of the Faculty, as well as the “Barleti” Association, represented by its chairman, Mr. Ilia Kuro.
Their contribution strengthened the discussion and reinforced collaboration between academia and national initiatives for climate and ozone protection.
During the activity, the National Ozone Unit presented:
- the role and importance of young women in the refrigeration and air conditioning (RAC) sector
- how cooling technologies impact health, daily life, and the climate
- the 3R concept and its contribution to reducing high-global-warming-potential substances
- opportunities and advantages for youth engagement in green and technical professions
Although the session was initially designed for female students, male students also joined out of curiosity and interest, enriching the discussion with their questions and perspectives.
Several female students expressed their willingness to join as volunteers of the National Ozone Unit, paving the way for new collaborations with the student community and their involvement in future awareness and environmental education activities.
The National Ozone Unit extends its appreciation to Barleti University for the cooperation and warm hospitality, as well as to all participating students for their interest and positive engagement.
This activity represents an important step toward strengthening the role of youth—especially young women—in future professions related to climate and sustainable technologies.
