The workshop “Women in Climate Action – The Montreal Protocol & GenderEquality”, a platform to engage and inspire the next generation of women leaders inclimate action and technical fields
May 26, 2025On May 20, 2025, the National Ozone Unit, in cooperation with the Agricultural University of Tirana, organized an awareness-raising activity titled “Women in Climate Action – The Montreal Protocol & Gender Equality.” The event was held under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Elvin Toromani, who serves as the Dean of the Faculty of Forest Sciences at the Agricultural University of Tirana and brought together 33 female students and lecturers to explore the essential role of women in environmental protection and climate action, with a particular focus on the Montreal Protocol.
The session emphasized the importance of gender-inclusive environmental action, recognizing that women are often at the forefront of implementing sustainable practices and managing resources within their communities. Speakers shared examples of local initiatives in Albania, including efforts in recycling and energy efficiency, led by women that have produced measurable environmental improvements.
The event concluded with an engaging discussion session, during which participants expressed a strong interest in contributing to environmental efforts and promoting gender equality in climate-related policies. The activity served as both an educational and motivational platform, encouraging increased female participation in environmental and climate initiatives and reinforcing the vital connection between gender equality and sustainable development.
